In their own way, each authorinvites the reader into their personal world, to read and share part of the author’s ownpersonal story through the consideration of their piece of work. Indoing so, they share their truth or human drama or fantasy. Stories of fantasy and fiction allow us to temporarilyleave our ‘present’ to imagine and dream about what might be or could be or should be.In this edition of Wavelength, our students use a variety of mediums to share their story. Through the exploration of a character’s resilience, we are often inspired to riseabove our own perceived limitations. Stories of human drama invite the reader into the struggles and challenges ofpersonal life. In my mind, great acts of bravery and courage took place, unknownyoung men became mates in the trenches and mothers sobbed and grieved for their lost sons.Stories may tell truths, highlight personal dramas and bring in to focus inequities and socialjustice issues. The spoken word broughtdetailed images to life. The soft glow of the valve radio illuminated the room. PRINCIPAL’S FOREWORDEverybody enjoys a good story.As a young boy, I remember listening to stories on the radio about the war as I lay in bedat night.
